Executive Director

Location: Pascagoula, Mississippi

Reports to: Main Street Pascagoula Board of Directors

Employment Type: Full Time, salary position

Benefits: Paid holiday, vacation and sick time. Work calendar aligns with City of Pascagoula.

Work Objectives: The Executive Director is responsible for the development, implementation, and promotion of Main Street Pascagoula’s programs and projects under the guidance of the Board of Directors. The Director leads initiatives aligned with Main Street America’s Four-Point Approach—Economic Vitality, Design, Promotion, and Organization—to advance the revitalization and growth of downtown Pascagoula as a vibrant, welcoming destination.

Primary Responsibilites

Community Relations & Advocacy

  • Serve as the primary advocate and spokesperson for our Main Street District.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local government, civic organizations, and the business community.

  • Represent Main Street Pascagoula at local, regional, and state meetings and events to promote economic development and investment in the downtown district.

  • Strengthen community awareness of Main Street Pascagoula’s mission and value through public speaking, newsletters, and outreach.

Program Development & Management

  • Implement the organization’s strategic plan and coordinate all Main Street programs and projects.

  • Oversee downtown improvement efforts, connecting business and property owners with design resources and incentive programs.

  • Support and guide downtown business owners on issues of promotion, recruitment, and development.

  • Plan and manage Main Street Pascagoula’s signature events while collaborating with City of Pascagoula Community Relations Director

Financial & Resource Management

  • Manage the organization’s budget, grants, and sponsorships with accuracy and transparency.

  • Track program metrics, maintain records, and prepare reports for the Board of Directors and Main Street America.

  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities to diversify revenue streams and sustain programming.

Leadership & Oversight

  • Report directly to the Board of Directors, maintaining consistent communication and providing regular updates.

  • Supervise staff, volunteers, and interns, promoting collaboration and accountability.

  • Lead the coordination of Main Street committees, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and annual goals.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, public administration, economic development, or related field (equivalent experience considered).

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in nonprofit management, economic development, or community revitalization.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

  • Experience managing budgets, grants, and fundraising campaigns.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms; experience with Canva or digital marketing tools preferred.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends when events are held.

  • Highly self-motivated witha positive attitude,excellent judgment, decision-making,andpriority-setting.

  • Ability to workindependentlyand as part of a team. Detail-oriented andadaptablewith a fast-changing environment.•A strong commitment to andability to communicate the goals and mission ofMMSA

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 30 lbs (event setup materials, signage, etc.).
